I'm not a competition fighter.
My Kung-fu training is built around self-defense, internal strength, and traditional practice. Not podiums.
So when I found myself at an open full-contact tournament last weekend — Lei Tai rules, fighters from every background — I had a choice to make. There was nobody in my weight category for light contact. Go home, or step up to full contact.
I stepped up.
Two fights. A Sanda fighter. A Pak Mei practitioner. And a lot of things I didn't expect to discover about my own training.
What actually happened — and what it revealed about the gap between traditional martial arts and full-contact competition — is in the video !
Can I use Kung-fu in sport fighting ?
